John Gantenbein is a Practice Leader with Lyndon Group serving clients that have needs with various loss prevention projects. He has over 30 years of progressive loss prevention and security experience including serving as the vice president of loss prevention for several well-known retailers. He has implemented and directed several innovative and highly respected programs and developed practices that have been adopted throughout the retail industry.

Experience

Before joining Lyndon Group, Mr. Gantenbein led the Loss Prevention Division of Macy’s West, serving as the Vice President, Loss Prevention. He was responsible for the development and maintenance of asset protection strategies and planning for 260 stores with $7B in annual sales, including the total division administration, staffing and budget. Additionally, Mr. Gantenbein oversaw the shortage program, compliance audits, apprehension policy, civil recovery, procurement, whistleblower hotline, building access controls and major investigations.

Prior to Macy’s West, Mr. Gantenbein held various Director, Loss Prevention positions for the department store division of Target Corporation. He held various positions, including Regional Manager, Investigations and Manager of Loss Prevention Training, at Marshall Fields (Chicago), Dayton’s (Minneapolis) and Hudson’s (Detroit). He also has seven years of public law enforcement experience serving in various positions including Patrol, Investigations and as an Administrative Aide to the Chief of Police.

Professional Organizations & Community Involvement

Mr. Gantenbein is a member of ASIS International, the preeminent organization for security professionals.  ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by developing educational programs and materials that address broad security interests. He formerly served as the Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair for the ASIS Detroit Chapter.
