Eric Nelson is a Practice Leader with Lyndon Group serving healthcare and financial
services clients that have needs with privacy and information security. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and specializes in federal, state and international privacy and information security compliance and breach mitigation. Eric has participated
on legislative and regulatory committees and served as an advisor to local and state governments. He has contributed to federal identity theft legislation and developed
privacy and information security student curriculum currently used by the University of Illinois. Eric is an active member of The Privacy Consortium, a collaborative group of
leading international privacy experts and a frequent speaker on the subject of privacy
and information security through people, policies and processes.

Experience

Before leading Lyndon Group’s Privacy and Information Security Practice, Eric was the Senior Principal of Secure Privacy Solutions, a risk management and compliance consulting firm offering retained privacy officer services, risk assessment, policy development, training and awareness and breach mitigation programs. He developed a best-of-breed privacy compliance and risk assessment process based on domestic and international frameworks, including the American Institute of Certified Professional Accountant’s (AICPA) Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP).

Prior to Secure Privacy Solutions, Eric founded Strategic Technology Solutions, a professional services firm formed to bridge the gap between business strategies and new technologies and applications. Engagements and services included information security programs, offshore (India) software development projects and secure internet authentication and validation platforms. As a regional director for EDS, a $36 billion professional services and business process solutions provider, Eric led a team responsible for the development and implementation of a proprietary internet payment platform that included application processing, user authentication and validation and ACH processing and invoicing.

Eric’s prior experience also includes executive leadership and general management roles in the telecommunications industry, with P & L responsibility for building and operating several of the first fiber optic-based Competitive Local Exchange Networks (CLECs).
