Walter (Wally) Young serves as the Practice Leader – Information Technology (IT) Services for Lyndon Group and is a highly skilled and innovative, results-oriented information systems professional with over 20 years of progressive experience in a wide variety of diverse industries, both domestic and international. Mr. Young assists Lyndon Group clients with IT projects in strategy development and planning, program and project leadership, system design and selection, vendor and contract management, infrastructure, operations, governance, audit and compliance including Sarbanes-Oxley.

Experience

Prior to joining Lyndon Group, Mr. Young consulted with a variety of global industries including healthcare, manufacturing, medical device and financial services companies, responsible for program and project leadership in enterprise application implementations and operations. He has provided project leadership with large-scale ERP and Business Intelligence implementations for Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Young’s ability to provide guidance, alignment and delivery of IT projects to company-wide strategic operations has been a success factor to the delivery of key mission-critical enterprise initiatives.

Previously, Mr. Young was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Endocare Inc. (now Healthtronics, NASDAQ:HTRN), a medical device design and manufacturing organization specializing in cryoablation cancer treatment equipment and technologies, where he was responsible for overseeing all corporate IT functions. Mr. Young managed multi-site business technology services and operations, facilitating software applications development and infrastructure stability, security and business recoverability, and other key business initiatives including:

  • Delivered $400K/year in cost savings through vendor consolidation of telecommunications, voice and data services. Deployed PDA smart phones to sales team and key executives for improved connectivity to business productivity applications.
  • Decreased lead-to-sales time 40% by implementing CRM/SFA application. Improved visibility with customers and enhanced sales process efficiencies with data points for customer data gathering and follow up.
  • Developed the company’s strategic plan as a key member of the executive team and corporate committees, established core corporate values and redefined mission/vision statements. Developed enterprise-wide IT strategic plan aligned with company’s strategic plan. Established IT controls in conjunction with overall corporate governance and achieved Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for three consecutive years.
  • Reduced resolution times by 45% for customer-reported service issues/requests with new methods for surveying and tracking customer satisfaction with IT services. Introduced IT best practices for customer service and quality (e.g. ITIL methodologies/processes).

Earlier in his career, Mr. Young served as Vice President of Operations Services for ePolicy Solutions, a web-technology company providing mission-critical web-based policy administration solutions for the insurance industry, where he directed system operations, quality assurance and customer service groups (onshore and offshore). Through his leadership, Mr. Young decreased software defect rates by over 75% by implementing software quality tools and methods integrated throughout the development and SQA process. Further, he developed comprehensive service level agreements (SLAs) to deliver high-level operational availability for mission-critical, high-transaction-volume client applications and hosted infrastructure.  Prior to ePolicy Solutions, Mr. Young was the Chief Information Officer for Targus Group International, the leading global supplier of mobile computing cases and accessories.

Mr. Young resides in Orange County California and enjoys spending time with his family as well as martial arts, golf and scuba diving.
