Job Summary

Responsible for oversight, planning, execution and delivery on projects related to SAP Concur Travel, Expense and/or Invoice as assigned by Firm management. Successful Senior Advisors must be able to independently lead and own projects, and can serve multiple clients simultaneously, in different industries, across different regions, with the capability to complete complex travel and expense management analysis.

 Excellent leadership and communication skills are needed to convey conclusions and recommendations clearly, and the “presence” to meet with all levels of an organization. The Senior Advisor has heavy experience in a fast-paced environment, who is not easily distracted by volume or deadlines.

A Senior Advisor must display a high degree of professionalism, respect and transparency toward clients, Firm management, colleagues, partners and others when performing job duties.


Duties & Responsibilities


1.     Stay current with all Concur products and services, including platform updates, and trends in the travel and spend management industry

2.     Assist and support Sales staff on prospect discovery calls to answer technical questions and assist with estimated hours to complete; review proposals as requested

3.     Review actual hours incurred weekly and track any out-of-scope work for all assigned projects

4.     Accurately plan project resources needs in a timely manner as directed by senior management

5.     For all assigned projects, provide project status to Firm and client management, as needed, and address any issues as necessary

6.     Ensure adherence to best practice Firm project management methodology and standards

7.     Maintain a high degree of familiarity with Firm methodologies, policies and practices


1.     Review proposals (especially Company Needs section) and signed engagement letters for assigned projects to understand and discuss the scope of work, approved hours, timeline and project deliverables (deliverables detailed in engagement letter should be transferred to Monday and tracked)

2.     Scope, direct, supervise, manage and deliver multiple projects at any given time with a track record of delivering projects on-time and within budget

3.     Serve as the primary client contact and trusted advisor, communicating as needed to ensure appropriate information sharing and follow through

4.     Ensure project plans are customized to meet the project objectives and scope and help direct execution of the project

5.     Ensure the Project Team develops an understanding of not only the client’s Concur environment but their business, and applies this knowledge to suggest alternative and/or appropriate approaches, tools, solutions, partners and/or techniques to address client needs

6.     Own the full project life cycle; define, manage, and execute project activities including adherence to delivery schedules, stakeholder, scope and risk management, budget control, and critical path scheduling

7.     Direct and manage project resources; assign all project-related activities to applicable resources and ensure all tasks are performed to ensure a successful project; ensure project coverage when assigned resources are not available (e.g., vacation, illness, other Firm activities, etc.)

8.     Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans with management, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks

9.     Provide subject matter expertise or assist in obtaining additional resources on certain topics, as required

10.   Participate in client calls, as needed (e.g., client request, relevant topics, client issues, etc.)

11.   Adjust the project approach as necessary to ensure ultimate results are on track to meet project objectives

12.   Able to track budgeted hours within scope of work and identify any scope changes; need for revised EL, etc.

13.   Structure, create, and/or present formal and informal client communications that are clear, succinct, complete and compelling

14.   Present to all levels within the client, and work with both technical and non-technical individuals, as this role deals with cross-functional staff and teams (CFOs, A/P Managers, Human Resources, IT, Travel Managers, etc.)


Job knowledge, skills & experience

Minimum job content knowledge required for this position

1.     Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills (oral and written)

2.     Advanced SAP Concur Configuration experience

3.     Concur ecosystem knowledge and familiarity

4.     Negotiation and convincing skills to challenge client business leaders and users on their assumptions and help craft innovative and effective solutions

5.     Strategic thinking and strong overall business acumen

6.     Analytical, detail oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and strong work ethic

7.     Excellent facilitation and management skills; strong process and project management skills

8.     Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word required

9.     Ability and flexibility to travel periodically required

10.   General experience with CRM, ERP and HRIS software preferred

11.   Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate effective teamwork and leadership

12.   Willingness to step outside the Senior Advisor role when needed

13.   Ability to work autonomously, proactively and effectively in a fast-paced environment

Minimum experience required for this position

Minimum of 5 years SAP Concur experience and five years of full-time consulting, project management or related experience, preferably with travel and spend management programs

Minimum formal education required for this position

BA/BS degree and advanced degree, or equivalent, preferred (e.g., CPA or MBA)
